As some of my blog followers will know, I’ve been holidaying and racing in Thailand for the last few years. Earlier this year I met up with my old mate Robert Stevenson who has lived out there for a number of years. We’ve known each other since we were at school but it was only through social media that we reconnected a couple of years ago.
My circumstances in Scotland have changed recently and I’m now in the position to do a bit more travelling, so I asked Rob if he could look out for a house for me to rent in Thailand for two months. So that’s where I am now. Living in a two bedroom house, across the road from the communal pool in Chokchai Village 7, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri, Thailand.
I’ve been in the area a few times and know it quite well, I feel comfortable around here and I’ve got a few running buddies in the various local Hash Harrier drinking/running clubs.
At 27-30C it’s not the easiest of climates to run in but there’s always a downside. Of course, I’ve entered a race to coincide with my trip and I will be flying up to the much cooler weather of Chaing Mai to do the local Half Marathon on 18 December. I’ll not be breaking any records, just enjoying the experience. Apart from running and swimming, I’m planning on improving my Thai language skills and doing a spot of scuba diving too. I’ve got a number of other options in mind but I really just want to live the Thai life for sixty days and enjoy the experience.
Of course, I’ll miss my family, friends, running buddies and my constant companion Jack but I’ll be back in February 2017 and who knows I might see a few of you out here before then. I’ve got a spare room if you’re passing through.
I’ve also taking the time recently to work on my websites and to bring my blogs and photography sites together on the one site: www.iangoudie.eu feel free to have a look around.
Oh and here’s my view from last night’s dinner table, how was yours?
